The Maremma is first and foremost an unspoilt landscape. Its towns are almost always surrounded by sheer kilometres of open countryside and forests. You don’t need to go far to come across deer, wild boar and hare. In fact, all you have to do is try driving at night! The Maremmans are the ultimate naturalists. They love their landscape and they do everything in their power to preserve them in numerous wildlife reserves and nature parks. Inside these parks, it’s not only about the landscape. Follow the designated paths and you’ll almost always stumble across a medieval tower, abandoned Roman ruin or the remains of Zionistic church.

The province is also home to four art parks, where the modern sculptures and manmade pieces are almost as beautiful as those provided by Mother Nature.
