The Maremma mightn’t seem like the place to find some of Tuscany’s best beaches, but you’d be surprised. Quite a bit of the province dips its feet in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a beautiful calm and surprisingly warm stretch of sea off the Mediterranean. The majority of the Maremma’s beaches are long stretches of soft yellow sand and deep blue water. Off the Argentario Coast, you’ll find a few rock beaches, while its two island, Giglio and Giannutri, have the best of both worlds. The Maremma’s beaches are all divided into paid and free sections. You can’t miss the paid sections, which are cordoned off and lined with an army of sundecks and umbrellas, available for the day at around €10. There are beaches for all ages and needs from easily accessible family favourites to secluded corners perfect for a little R&R. Here are my top picks!
