What: The autumn version of Top Secret Maremma is definitely one to catch! It’s spread across the municipality of Manciano.
Basically it’s your once-in-a-lifetime chance to get a peak into buildings and monuments that are normally closed to the public… for FREE!
Here’s what’s in store:
IN MANCIANO
Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 10am-11pm and Sunday 10am-5pm:
A special opening of Manciano’s castle and town hall with its paintings by Aldi and Pascucci and beautiful watchtower.
Friday 31:
– at 3:30pm: An urban trekking tour of Manciano. Meeting point: Piazza Garibaldi. Duration: 2 hrs.
– at 6pm: A journey to discover the symbolism of Romanesque sculpture at Manciano’s castle.
– at 9:30pm: World premiere of the film on the Maremma “Secrets of the sheep” by Sergio Rossi.
Saturday 1 and Sunday 2
– 10am to 12:30pm / 2:45pm to 6:30pm: Guided tours of the house and cellar of famous 19th century painter and Manciano noble man, Pietro Aldi. This is the first time this house has been opened to the public. It’s on Via Curtatone.
– Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm: “Secrets of the sheep” film screening at Manciano’s cinema.
Saturday 1
– from 4pm to 6pm: authors read stories of local folklore in the town hall.
– from 6pm to 11pm: Astronomical observation sessions in the town’s watchtower complete with telescopes.
Sunday 2
– 6:30pm: inauguration of the new library
IN MONTEMERANO
Friday 31 and Saturday 1:
-at 7:30pm: the town’s cellars are opened with delicious tasting of enchanted and magical potions
Friday 31: Live music and dancing
Saturday 1: an enchanted evening with a parade, acrobatic shows, fire magic, burlesque dancing, witches and a costume competition.
IN POGGIO MURELLA
Friday 31, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2
– from 9:30am-12:30pm/ 2:30pm-5:30pm: free entry into the town’s Roman-era tower.
IN MARSILIANA
Friday 31, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2:
– at 11am: Guided tour of Marsiliana’s castle with wine tasting.
IN POGGIO CAPANNE
Saturday 1 and Sunday 2:
– from 3pm-7pm: photo exhibition of local customs and faces.
