Porto Santo Stefano‘s lungomare (boardwalk) is extremely popular, especially in the summer, mostly because it boasts some of the best views of the town, sea and boats.

The best time to admire the port, in my opinion, is just as dusk is setting in. Any earlier and everyone is at home digesting lunch and the place feels like a ghost town.

But in the early evening, the boats return home and the locals start to come out to enjoy the last few hours of shopping and sun before sauntering off home or to the restaurants on the boardwalk.

It’s an incredible sight to behold and makes you feel like you’re really part of a living, breathing city and not a tourist observing from the outside. A nice change!
