Sticciano is a bit of a Maremman secret. The locals are very protective of their town. They don't want visitors making too much of a fuss over it. So they're content to sit in the shadow of Roccastrada.
I love the understated charm of Sticciano. It doesn't have a list of beautiful monuments or churches. It's just a quiet Maremman mountain town. It's not pretending to be anything but picturesque and provincial.
For a real taste of Maremman life, I wouldn't recommend anywhere else. Be sure to stop over for an hour or two to take in the view. Sticciano is a 20 minute drive from Roccastrada.
