Part of the Museo di Storia Naturale della Maremma, this museum is run by Grosseto‘s Underwater Club.

The club has been collecting fish and other underwater species for a long time and has only recently managed to convince the local council to provide it with a space so that it can share its spectacular collection with others.

The majority of the fish and shells are from local waters and the Mediterranean Sea.

But you also get a few species from other more tropical locations, including a very cute school of Nemo clownfish.

The aquarium is beautiful and the tanks provide a very realistic setting for all their inhabitants. Also keep an eye out for the exhibition of sands from around the world.

It’s a fantastic way for the family to spend an afternoon and visitors wanting to come in closer contact with the aquarium’s residents can ask to help feed the fish.
