There is really no perfect word to describe agriturismi in English.

That might be because this type of accommodation is unique to Tuscany, I don't know. The word is basically an Italian fusion of farm and tourism - which is exactly what agriturismi are.

They're rooms or apartments that have been incorporated in a working Tuscan farm. These farms are spread across acres of the most beautiful Maremman countryside and have centuries of history behind them.

They're also incredibly picturesque, romantic and perfect for families with plenty of space, as well as tennis courts, pools, outdoor dining areas, and, sometimes, even day spas.

But the one thing that separates agriturismi from other types of accommodation is the food. Most have their own restaurants that serve up produce fresh from the farm and their kitchen gardens.

They also run a number of different activities year round and are the place to ask if you want to book a tour.
